Baffin Proudly Sponsors the Inaugural Hammer Plunge in Support of Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation

At Baffin, being an active outdoor brand means more than creating products built for the elements — it means supporting the people and organizations that keep our communities strong and healthy. At the end of November, we were proud to serve as the presenting sponsor of Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation’s first-ever Hammer Plunge.

The inaugural Hammer Plunge brought together 260 participants and volunteers at Fifty Point Conservation Area. Raising an incredible $143,785 to support patient care and innovation demonstrates the strength of community support behind the cause.

The event delivered an unforgettable winter experience, anchored by a vibrant Winter Village complete with warming stations, a sauna, food stations, and a Fun Zone for participants and spectators alike. The atmosphere reflected the resilience, connection, and shared purpose that define both the Hammer Plunge and Baffin’s commitment to community.

A meaningful moment of the day featured Sarah, a Hamilton General Hospital patient and the Hammer Plunge Patient Ambassador, who shared her medical journey and expressed gratitude to her care team. Her story highlighted the direct impact of the Hammer Plunge and the important work it supports.

Hospital staff were at the heart of the Hammer Plunge, with seven medical teams forming to fundraise and take the plunge. Clinical leaders led by example, including Dr. Alim Pardhan, Chief of Emergency at Hamilton General Hospital. The top hospital staff team raised over $8,000, highlighting the dedication, teamwork, and passion of the Hamilton General community both inside and outside hospital walls.

The day was further elevated by the presence of special guests Alexandra Cunningham (@ThisFamilyTree), Ryan Williams, Producer at Legend 102.9, and Jonathan Feedman from Cable 14, whose involvement helped amplify awareness and celebrate the incredible community spirit that defined the event.

The overwhelming positive feedback and excitement from participants and attendees — many already eager to return next year — reinforced the success of this inaugural event. We are proud to have been part of the first Hammer Plunge and look forward to continuing our support of the Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation and the healthcare professionals who care for our communities every day.
