Stepping Up for Conservation: The Completion of 100 Boot Brush Stations

In 2023, Baffin embarked on a journey to support conservation along the Bruce Trail, Canada's oldest and longest marked footpath, through the Trail Conservancy Project. With a focus on protecting this natural treasure from invasive species, Baffin committed to build and install 100 Boot Brush Stations by 2025.

Following the momentum of last year’s successful Earth Day event, Baffin once again teamed up with the Bruce Trail Conservancy, employees, and community partners for the third annual Earth Day Boot Brush Station Build on April 22, 2025. Thanks to the incredible efforts of our volunteers and the generous support of Ontario-based Turkstra Lumber, the final 40 Boot Brush Stations were built during this year's event, officially completing the 100 goal mark.

Constructed from durable cedar and equipped with educational signage, Boot Brush Stations help trail users remove dirt and seeds from their footwear before and after hiking — a small step that plays a big role in limiting the spread of invasive species like Garlic Mustard and Dog Strangling Vine along the Escarpment.

Alongside Baffin staff and the Bruce Trail Conservancy, special guests and influencers stopped by throughout the day in support of the event. Lifestyle influencers Marisa Mercanti-Gagnon (@thedaydreamdiaries), Dee Thomson (@adashofdee), Emma Lindeman (@lovelylittlelocal), Victoria Hui (@thelustlistt), and Peter Tran (@thedunklistt), DIY Home influencer Letitia Kiu (@letitiakiu), Food influencer Joyce Leung (@joyceofcooking), along with The Morning Show and Hamilton Tiger-Cats Game Day host, Natalie Sexton (@natalie_sexton_), and Hamilton Tiger-Cats legend and Brand and Community Ambassador, Simoni Lawrence (@simoni_lawrence21), all brought energy and enthusiasm, adding even more excitement to the day.

The completion of 100 Boot Brush Stations stands as a testament to what can be achieved when we work together to protect the natural spaces that inspire us. It’s a reflection of Baffin’s ongoing commitment to not just outfitting adventurers, but preserving the environments that make adventure possible.

As we look ahead, we remain dedicated to conservation efforts that protect and enhance our shared outdoor spaces. Every Boot Brush Station is a reminder that small actions — taken together — can lead to lasting impact.
