The RWT™ Cold Comfort Level Evolution
Every Baffin boot is assigned an RWT™ cold rating that reflects its proven cold-comfort range and the level of activity that helps you stay warm. Activity matters, staying active promotes circulation, which keeps extremities warmer in the cold. That’s why each RWT™ rating is paired with suggested activity levels, described as a percentage of your heart rate max, along with examples of real-world use.

Northern Rated: Built for Diverse Experiences
When conditions are varied—wet, icy, or a mix of both—Northern Rated boots rise to the challenge. Tested everywhere from rivers and glaciers to jobsites across the North, these boots are proven to perform in environments where temperatures range from 10°C (50°F) to -10°C (14°F).
Comfort is best achieved with moderate activity, defined as maintaining 55–69% of your heart rate max. This is the range of movement that keeps blood flowing without overexertion—activities like:
- Hiking on rugged trails
- Hunting in damp, changing conditions
- Winter commuting where slush and ice meet pavement
The goal is a balance of movement and protection, ensuring you stay dry, surefooted, and comfortable as you navigate unpredictable northern environments.
