rich-text
Mount Baker, an active volcano in the North Cascades, is one of the snowiest places on Earth – and an ideal location for Real-World Testing®. On this expedition, Paul, Mark and Brent Hubner were joined by members of Baffin’s 2006 North Pole team for a climb-and-ski adventure that combined technical testing, challenging terrain and a lot of fun.
Among the gear tested was a prototype hardshell jacket – put through its paces in classic Mount Baker conditions: heavy snowfall, high winds and relentless moisture. As the second most heavily glaciated volcano in the Cascade Range after Mount Rainier, Mount Baker offers no shortage of extremes.
Beyond outerwear, the team also tested early versions of what would become the CAMP HOODIE, a merino wool neck warmer, and the Made in Canada TREKKER SOCK. Long, cold days in the backcountry offered ideal conditions to evaluate warmth, breathability and performance in deep powder and icy wind.
At Baffin, every expedition is an opportunity to push our gear further. And this one delivered – challenging, rewarding, and made even better by the great company.
