Legacy Expeditions

Everest Basecamp, 2011

August 14, 2025

This expedition marked a new chapter in Baffin’s commitment to Real-World Testing®, taking product development to new heightsliterally. On May 17, 2011, Paul Hubner flew into Lukla, Nepal to begin an unforgettable trek through the Himalayan Mountains. His journey took him through Phakding, Namche Bazaar and Lobuche, ultimately arriving at Everest Base Camp, standing 17,598 feet above sea level.

The adventure was more than just physicalit was deeply meaningful. During the trip, Paul participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Khumjung Golden Jubilee Celebration, recognizing Baffin’s contributions to the Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation. This organization works to preserve the cultural heritage of the Solu Khumbu region while improving education, health and infrastructure for local communities.

Through this partnership, Baffin helped support the creation of a computer lab at Khumjung Schoola vital tool for education in this remote region. It was a moment of connection and progress and a proud milestone in Baffin’s ongoing mission to give back.

From a product standpoint, this expedition was a proving ground for essential gear. Base layers, socks and early versions of the Rebel Series were all tested under the extreme and unpredictable conditions of high-altitude trekking. The Rebel Series has since evolved into the Ice Rebel industrial line, built with the same technology and endurance required for the Himalayasnow adapted for the demands of modern work environments.

An inspiring journey, a powerful partnership and another step forward in the evolution of Baffin gear.
