Baffin × Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation of Canada

Corporate Citizenship with Purpose

At Baffin, corporate citizenship is not a campaign — it’s an ongoing commitment shaped by the same principles that guide our product development: long-term thinking, real-world conditions, and responsibility to the environments and communities we engage with.

That belief is reflected in our continued partnership with the Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation of Canada, an organization dedicated to supporting Sherpa communities in Nepal through education, healthcare, and environmental initiatives.

A Shared Commitment to the Himalayas

The Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation of Canada was founded following Sir Edmund Hillary’s expeditions to the Himalayas, with a focus on ensuring that exploration and tourism contribute positively to the people who live there year-round.

This mission aligns closely with Baffin’s view of exploration — that testing product in extreme environments carries an obligation to give back in meaningful, lasting ways.

The Nepal Expedition: One Chapter of a Broader Partnership

In 2011, Baffin travelled to Nepal as part of an expedition to Everest Base Camp, combining Real-World Tested™ product validation with direct community engagement through the Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation.

Led by Baffin’s President and Chief Testing Officer, Paul Hubner, the trek reached elevations of approximately 17,600 feet and focused on performance testing — not a summit attempt — alongside time spent with communities in the Solu Khumbu region.

As part of this partnership, Baffin supported initiatives at Khumjung School, including funding for a computer lab, helping expand access to educational resources in a remote Himalayan village central to Sir Edmund Hillary’s legacy.

While the expedition marked a meaningful moment, it was never intended to be the end of the story — but rather one expression of an ongoing relationship.

How We Support Today: Always-On Impact

Baffin’s partnership with the Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation of Canada continues today through consistent, accessible support, making it easy for our community to participate.

Through Beam Impact, the Foundation is featured as an always-on giving partner at checkout on baffin.com. This allows customers to contribute directly to the Foundation’s work with a voluntary donation alongside their purchase.

This approach reflects how we think about corporate citizenship:

  • Integrated, not episodic

  • Community-driven, not performative

  • Ongoing, not one-time

Real-World Tested™ Means Responsible Exploration

Real-World Tested™ goes beyond how our products perform — it’s about how we show up in the environments that test us most.

By supporting the Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation of Canada over time, and by empowering our customers to participate through Beam Impact, Baffin reinforces a simple belief:
exploration should strengthen the places and people that make it possible.

Looking Forward

As Baffin continues to test product and tell stories in extreme environments around the world, partnerships like the Sir Edmund Hillary Foundation of Canada remain central to how we define responsible growth.

Because meaningful impact isn’t measured by a single expedition — it’s built through long-term commitment, shared values, and consistent action.
