In September 2024, Baffin’s Senior Vice President, Mark Hubner, embarked on a Real-World Tested™ expedition along a challenging section of the legendary Appalachian Trail — a 2,190-mile corridor crossing 14 U.S. states from Georgia to Maine. Known for its relentless climbs, uneven terrain, and unpredictable weather, the trail provided the ultimate proving ground for the BRUCE MID from Baffin’s Terrain Collection.
This wasn’t just a hike — it was a series of deliberate tests. Steep ascents and long downhill stretches evaluated ankle stability and mid-cut support under load. Slick, moss-covered rocks pushed the multi-directional tread pattern to its limits, gauging grip in wet, unstable conditions. Humid valleys and exposed ridgelines allowed Mark to test the breathability and moisture management of the upper materials, while sudden downpours and stream crossings challenged the water resistance and drying time.
Every mile became a controlled experiment in real-world conditions, confirming that the BRUCE MID delivers comfort, stability, and performance mile after mile — no matter what the trail throws your way.

About the Appalachian Trail
Stretching from Springer Mountain, Georgia to Mount Katahdin, Maine, the Appalachian Trail (AT) is one of the most iconic long-distance footpaths in the world. While many dream of thru-hiking its full length, countless hikers tackle sections each year – from forested hollows to exposed alpine ridges. The AT is as much a mental challenge as it is a physical one, demanding preparation, adaptability, and respect for nature.
Mark’s selected section combined steep elevation gains, technical footing, and variable weather patterns – perfect for testing the all-season versatility of Baffin footwear
